Lincolnshire & Rutland Highlights

Staying at the Best Western Barn Hotel, Grantham
This holiday takes us into the Lincolnshire countryside including visits to Burghley House & the city of
Lincoln. We also travel into England’s smallest county, Rutland. Here we visit Melton Mowbray and Oakham
with an included sail on Rutland water. Our hotel The Barn, is where rustic charm is nestled in the
surrounding countryside offering an idyllic tranquil and peaceful setting. The hotel also has a health club,
swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi.

Our Itinerary
DAY 1 Once we have picked you up from your door, we join our coach & travel over the Pennines with
refreshment stops and down to Newark-on-Trent before arriving at our hotel for dinner and a stay of 4
nights.
DAY 2 After breakfast we have a day tour, first to Melton Mowbray famous for pork pies and stilton cheese,
because today is market day. Later we drive to Oakham the county town of Rutland before an included boat
cruise on Rutland water.
DAY 3 Today we travel to Lincoln, the county’s capital where there will be plenty of time to visit the Medieval
Cathedral, the castle or maybe the high street shops. For anyone who wants a quiet and peaceful setting,
take a stroll along the river to the Brayford waterfront.
DAY 4 Another leisurely day tour, first
to the medieval town of Stamford with
attractive 17th & 18th century stone
and timber framed buildings. In the
afternoon we make our way to
Burghley house and gardens for an
included visit. Here you will experience
one of the grandest Elizabethan houses
in England with magnificent state
rooms and priceless treasures.
DAY 5 Today we leave our hotel and
drive into Grantham for a morning visit
before driving north eventually to our
door-to-door service and home areas.
