Switzerland – The Magnificent Alps & Bernina Express Spectacular

Staying at the 4* Silvretta Parkhotel, Klosters
This superb holiday takes us into the swiss alps and village of Klosters, which is the winter holiday resort of the royal family. Whilst here we include a journey on the breathtaking Bernina Express railway from Filisur high into the alps, passing lakes and glaciers travelling across the border to Tirano in Italy. We also include a ‘Davos/Klosters card’ which provides discounts on local transport, cable cars and mountain railways. Our hotel situated in Klosters is the 4 star Silvretta Parkhotel. It is family-run, a modern hotel with indoor swimming pool, sauna relaxation room, jacuzzi and gym. All 90 rooms have a balcony or terrace. The owners of the hotel are proud of the cuisine they offer, having hot and cold buffet breakfast and a themed dinner each night.

Our Itinerary
DAY 1 After your doorstep service to our coach we travel via Skipton to York for a short visit then onto the port of Hull for our overnight crossing with P&O to Europort/Rotterdam in Holland. On board we have outside cabins with side-byside
berths and en-suite facilities. You will also find evening entertainment which normally features a cabaret, and cinema as well as duty free shops.
DAY 2 After we clear customs, we join our coach and travel through Holland into Germany and to our hotel in Mannheim for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 3 After breakfast we leave Mannheim and travel south into Switzerland with appropriate comfort stops to the centrally situated Silvretta Parkhotel in Klosters for dinner and the evening.
DAY 4 Today is a free day to discover Klosters. You will receive a ‘Davos/Klosters card’ which allows discounted travel on local transport. Our crew will be available to suggest any options you may have.
DAY 5 After a leisurely breakfast we have a scenic drive to St Moritz. It’s elegant and chic position lies in the middle of a lake dotted landscape and offers one of the sunniest climates in the whole of Switzerland. With plenty of time here we then return to Klosters for dinner and the evening.
DAY 6 Today will be a day to remember when we take the local train from Klosters to Filisur using our Davos card. We then board the Bernina Express railway and travel to Tirano in Italy. This is the highest mountain railway in the alps and is said to be Switzerland’s most scenic journey. You see lakes, gorges and glaciers as well as a series of loops and tunnels. The train climbs to a height of 2253 meters before arriving in Tirano where time will be given before joining our coach and driving back to our hotel in Klosters.
DAY 7 We have a full half day tour today that takes us to Chur. This charming, historic town has cobbled streets, secret courtyards and a large cathedral. We will have time to explore before rejoining our coach and drive back to our hotel for relaxation before dinner.
DAY 8 Sadly today we have to leave Klosters and drive back over the border into Germany and to our hotel in Mannheim in good time for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 9 After breakfast we leave the hotel and drive north over the border into Holland and on to Rotterdam and Europort for our P&O crossing to England, once again having outside cabins with side-by-side berths.
DAY 10 We arrive in Hull at approximately 8am then after clearing customs, we drive direct to our home areas and door-to-door service.
