Our Itinerary
DAY 1 After your personal door-to-door service has picked you up from your doorstep, we join our coach and make our way to the ancient Roman city of Chester. Founded as a Roman fortress in the 1st century A.D. it’s known for its extensive Roman walls made of local red sandstone. In the old city, the Rows is a shopping district distinguished by 2-level covered arcades and Tudor-style half-timber buildings. A Roman amphitheatre, with ongoing excavations, lies just outside the old city’s walls. After time at leisure, we make our way to Alvaston Hall in plenty of time to get settled before dinner and entertainment.
DAY 2 After a leisurely breakfast, it’s your choice to stay on resort and take part in any of the activities or join the coach as it heads out via the Cat & Fiddle to the Spa town of Buxton. This special thermal spa town is nestled in the centre of the beautiful Peak District and surrounded by the UK’s oldest national park. Stunning ornamental gardens and world-famous Georgian and Victorian architecture provide an impressive backdrop. We return in plenty of time to refresh before dinner and entertainment.
DAY 3 A free morning to relax or take part in the resort activities before we head out for an included visit to Jodrell Bank Telescope visitor centre. Humans have always looked up at the skies and marvelled at the sun, moon, planets and stars in an attempt to understand our own sense of place and purpose here on earth. For over 75 years, Jodrell Bank has been at the forefront of that quest for understanding and at the heart of ground breaking discoveries and world-leading research.
DAY 4 After a leisurely breakfast and you’ve checked out, we make our way firstly to the medieval town of Shrewsbury. The Tudor centre is lined with half-timbered houses. The medieval, red-brick Shrewsbury Castle houses the Shropshire Regimental Museum, where military artefacts include uniforms and weaponry. St Chad’s Church is defined by its unique circular nave and St Mary’s Church has elaborate stained-glass windows. After plenty of time here, we make our way north to meet your door-to-door service which will return you to your doorstep.
